Who is Kaoru Niikura? He is Guitarist. He is the eldest. He is stoic.
He is dorky. He is Leader-sama. Who did he used to play for? He used to play for CHARM and La:Sadie's. But La:Sadie's lost
their bassist KISAKI and had to recruit the help of a friend in Nagano that could play the bass, Toshiya. Once this was accomplished
their name changed from La:Sadie's to Dir en grey. He not only plays guitar for the band but he is also the main composer
for most of their music ( though the other bandmates have had their hands at composing ). And he is quite a damned good composer,
making sure that each song is unique in its own way. This can be heard in the likes of Kiri to Mayu; Byo「」Shin;
Cage; Tsumi to Batsu; Mazohyst of Decadence; Mask; -ZAN-; Akura no Oka; Hydra; Berry; Macabre - Sanagi no Yume wa Ageha no

despair... a lost and ASH ( with Die ). When asked how he sees himself he says that he is a person with a complicated nature.
Though he can be quite a dork at times, too.
As Leader-sama and oldest of the group, Kaoru is the most mature
one. But he isn't prone to helping Die to pick on the delicate drummer Shinya. He rarely ever smiles but when he does it is
said to be quite a heart-warming sight. And when he first met the others of the group he scared them all-- Even the Warumono,
Kyo. When the band puts on their live shows Kaoru remains relatively still on stage but sometimes he'll be seen running around
stage to help pump the audience up or sometimes captivating them with his drawn-out, compelling guitar solos. At one time
the band was considered to be Visual Kei, and in these days his costumes never showed off alot of skin, though could be quite
wild none-the-less ( in example: the parasite hat). And his hair was forever changing in shade and style. But his make-up
( when compared to the others ) was quite simple, usually accenting his lips and eyes. Dir en grey hasn't been considered
Visual Kei for awhile now, but Kaoru will always be the stoic Leader-sama ( with the rare showing of a sweet, somewhat childish/dorky
side ).
